About SVI:
St. Volodymyr Institute (SVI) is a registered not-for-profit organization and a leading Ukrainian cultural and educational institution in downtown Toronto. For over six decades, it has served as a vital centre for learning, artistic expression, and community engagement. Home to a student residence, theatre, library, archives, and exhibition space, SVI presents a diverse range of programming, including performances, exhibitions, lectures, book launches, films, and special events. It also provides space for key organizations dedicated to Ukrainian Canadian heritage, contemporary discourse, and global engagement.
As SVI looks to the future, a major development project is underway to establish a new Ukrainian Canadian cultural hubβone that will expand partnerships, integrate innovation, and reimagine its role in cultural production, education, and community engagement, further contributing to Torontoβs vibrant cultural and educational landscape.
Mission:
To be a Canadian centre of excellence and innovation by promoting, educating, and nurturing all aspects of Ukrainian culture and intellectual heritage, and to strengthen the identity and community of individuals of Ukrainian descent.
Vision:
To be recognized as a hub of Ukrainian community activities and a leading Canadian and international resource, for teaching, learning, and advancing Ukrainian and Ukrainian Canadian culture.
