Daria Alyoshkina, a masterful artist celebrated for her innovative approach to the ancient Ukrainian papercutting craft, is set to enchant art enthusiasts with her contemporary interpretations at SVI. This exhibition presents a unique opportunity for art lovers to witness the seamless convergence of tradition and contemporary expression.
The focal point of the exhibition is a collection of 7 large-format papercuts, each measuring an impressive 110x350 centimeters. These pieces showcase Alyoshkina's mastery and deep cultural connection. Additionally, exclusive artworks crafted specifically for this event will be featured in the Art Exhibit Room and will be available for purchase starting in December, providing collectors with a chance to own a piece of Alyoshkina's distinctive artistry.
About Daria Alyoshkina
Daria Alyoshkina, a masterful artist, breathed new life into the ancient Ukrainian papercutting craft, transforming it into a modern art form showcased through her monumental artworks. Her deep connection to papercuts traces back to her childhood in a picturesque Ukrainian village, where she rediscovered the essence of tradition, symbols, and the surrounding nature. Born on March 5, 1982, in Kyiv, into the family of sculptors Oleksa and Lyudmila Aloshkin, Alyoshkina spent her formative years in the Vinnytsia region. In 2001, she graduated from Vyzhnytsya College of Arts V.Yu. Skriblyak and, in 2007, earned a Master's degree in monumental and decorative sculpture from the Lviv National Academy of Arts. Alyoshkina's artistic repertoire spans easel and monumental sculpture, paper art, and graphics.
Since 1996, Alyoshkina has been in more than thirty sculptural symposiums across Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania. Her sculptures embellish cities such as Kyiv, Lviv, the Black Sea, Zhovkva, Kolomyia, Svalyava, Kalush, and Gdansk (Poland). Representing Ukraine since 2010 at international events, she showcased monumental papercuts in various countries. Notable moments include adorning the Ukrainian stand at "Livre Paris," having Cartier feature her work in their boutique in 2018, and participating in the Biennale of High Crafts and Design Révélations Grand Palais, Paris. The years following were marked by collaborations, personal exhibitions, and international showcases, with Alyoshkina continuing to captivate audiences worldwide through her intricate papercut masterpieces.
