Liza Zienchuk is a long-active member of the Canadian-Ukrainian Community, organizing and leading many events and initiatives through various groups such as the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and CYMK Ukrainian-Orthodox Youth. Other involvements include Ukrainian Saturday School, PLAST, and various Ukrainian Dance groups.
TYSK
HEADLINERS
In the summer of 2022 a group of like-minded young Ukrainian students in the greater Toronto area got together to share their common love of all things Ukrainian. They had spent their youth singing and playing music at camps, cottages and various Ukrainian gatherings. Soon their impromptu and informal musical get-togethers in friends’ and parents’ basements, developed into a tight knit group eager to further spread their passion for Ukrainian music. The momentum was building, and when they took to the stage for their first public event - the TYSK could not be contained! The band TYSK has in its repertoire patriotic songs and ballads, as well as dance music few can resist. They have performed locally, nationally and internationally on festival stages, at fundraisers and private functions. Their moto: Далі буде TYSK!
ORLY
Nick Tanchak, accordion, and Ivan Franko, violin, have entertained guests at many Ukrainian community events in Toronto. Focused on traditional Ukrainian music, they also entertain gatherings with international favourites. They always welcome requests.
KOSA KOLIADNYKY
Kosa Koliadnyky are members of the Kosa Choir and Kosa Kolektiv community who come together each winter to carry on the ancient Ukrainian tradition of preparing for “koliada,” a winter ritual that coincides with Christmas. They learn ancient carols, vinshuvannya (spoken blessings), and skits, bringing song, blessing, mischief and fun into people’s homes, and onto the streets of Toronto.
