They used to spend their days in study halls. They had favourite classes and those they dreaded weekly. And how scary it was for them to even think of failing a midterm.
But after February 24, everything changed for Ukrainian students. Classrooms turned into bomb shelters and battlefields. Fears changed its course and bravery took control.
Now, diplomas of some will never be issued. Because russia took the lives of their to-be owners in its attempt to take Ukraine's freedom.
Unissued Diplomas is a student-led exhibition held in more than 45 universities worldwide from February 24 through March 11, uncovering the stories of 36 Ukrainian students who lost their lives in war. This project wasn’t possible without the support of the Memorial memory platform that gathers and publishes information about Ukrainian civilian and military war casualties.
The 36 Unissued Diplomas will be on display at St. Volodymyr Institute at 620 Spadina Ave.
